The Song Room Celebrates Friendship and Connection in Children’s Week
On 28 October, students from across Australia joined soprano and cabaret star Ali McGregor for our Children’s Week virtual event, Celebrating Creativity and Connection!
The virtual event, which The Song Room hosted with the support of a2 Milk, celebrates students’ learning and achievements in 2020. Students have been working hard with their Teaching Artists this semester to re-connect with school life and strengthen their friendships in a year that has been full of disruptions to students’ normal school routines.
To suit this year’s Children’s Week theme of celebrating a child’s right to choose their own friends and safely connect with others, students across Australia from seven different schools got together to share what friendship means to them and why they like having our programs in their schools.
Principal of Tyabb Railway Station Primary School, Emma Slater, shared the transformation of students participating in the school’s Song Room program, while students told us all about what they had learnt.
A big thank you to superstar soprano Ali McGregor for hosting our event, and also to students and staff from Bossley Park Public School, Brookman Primary School, Geeveston Primary School, Millicent North Primary School, Tongala Primary School, Tyabb Railway Station Primary School and Yarralin School for their incredible performances – we couldn’t have done it without you!
A special thanks also to our Children’s Week event, performance partner, The a2 Milk Company.
