Don’t Miss a Beat — Donate to Support Arts Education Today

Too many children are missing out on reaching their full potential. Don’t Miss a Beat. Please donate to support arts education today.

When a child misses a beat in their education, the impact can be profound and long-lasting. They can fall behind academically, disengage from school, lose confidence, and their wellbeing can decline. This decreases their opportunities in life.

It is especially critical for children from low socioeconomic backgrounds who, by the age of 15, are nearly 3 years behind more advantaged Australian students¹.

The Song Room plays a vital role in helping young people find their rhythm at school and beyond by engaging them in evidence-based, arts learning programs that improve attendance and student motivation. Their academic outcomes improve, their wellbeing improves, and they find a sense of belonging and connection at school².

You can help us to ensure that no child misses a beat in their learning and wellbeing by donating to The Song Room today.

Every day, children The Song Room programs experience the transformative power of the arts.

Manjeet Singh is a teacher at Orelia Primary School in Western Australia. She has witnessed an enormous transformation in her teaching practice, her students’ learning, and across the entire school community, thanks to her Song Room Program.

“The Song Room programs show how the arts is inclusive, and that all children can achieve. I’ve got special needs kids, kids with trauma. They all want to participate in some way! As soon as they enter the room, they want to be sitting in the front row, they grab their instruments straight away.

“Music is a subject where every child can have success, they work together and help each other. I’m actually feeling so empowered and enthusiastic, and the kids can see that.” Manjeet Singh.

Unfortunately, too many children around the country are missing out on these life changing experiences. 75% of schools do not have a specialist music teacher.³

With your support we can improve academic outcomes, student wellbeing and community connection in schools across Australia through arts learning programs just like the one at Orelia Primary School.

Independent research shows that participating students’ numeracy and literacy levels improve, and school absenteeism decreases by up to 65% in Song Room programs. Additionally, students experience better social and emotional wellbeing outcomes, such as reduced depression and anxiety, along with improved self-esteem and school engagement³. This sets them up to thrive at school and in life.
