DUET - Music in Schools Teacher Mentoring Program | Building the Capacity of Generalist Teachers
After a competitive submission process The Song Room was awarded the 2020 Music in Schools program by the Victorian Department of Education and Training.
Building on the success of the pilot program in 2019, 31 expert Teaching Artists provided 143 teachers in 72 schools across Victoria with mentoring and professional development to improve teacher confidence, capability and capacity to deliver music learning.
In collaboration with the Victorian Government we quickly adapted the program to an online mentoring model when access to schools in Victoria was restricted due to the COVID-19 pandemic, demonstrating flexibility, expertise and a commitment to meeting teachers’ needs.
