Transformational Learning through Creativity | Building a Thriving School Community
The three-year Transformational Learning through Creativity pilot program commenced in 17 schools across regional South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales. The high-quality Arts Learning program aims to transform student learning, teacher practice and school culture.
The program consists of; sequential lessons delivered by Teaching Artists, mentoring and professional learning for teachers and school leaders, the ARTS:LIVE digital education platform, and community engagement projects.
The guiding principle in the first year was ‘Arts Learning happens every day’ and
the focus was placed on building trust, developing resilience to try new skills, and embedding creative practices and values into everyday teaching practice.
We are eternally grateful to our partners
in this project: Federal Department of Education, Skills and Employment alongside the South Australian Department for Education, Third Link Investment Managers, and the Thyne Reid Foundation.
Since The Song Room program (teachers) have noticed more spontaneous music making from the students. It seems that bringing music into the classrooms has boosted kids’ confidence and creativity outside of the classroom.”
