MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR AND CEO
2024 was a landmark year for The Song Room. Celebrating 25 years of arts learning in Australian schools is an enormous achievement. This year has reinforced our purpose, resilience and commitment to the power of the arts in a high quality and equitable education.
As we reflect on our achievements and look to the future, we recognise that creating lasting impact requires more than short-term solutions—it demands long-term, deliberate and strategic attention, commitment, and investment from a wide range of collaborators.
Our impact is greatest when local communities, schools, partners and policy makers work together with The Song Room to ensure that every child has access to high-quality learning experiences, regardless of their background or circumstances. Transformational change is possible with collective action.
We will continue advocating for meaningful educational change to play our role in the creation of a strong society of confident, capable and thoughtful young people who feel optimistic about their future.
Thank you to the many team members, teaching artists, artists, educators, funders and project partners who have contributed to our efforts this year and over the last 25 years. Your commitment has been instrumental in driving innovative arts learning initiatives and program design, delivering educational excellence, improving student wellbeing, and strengthening the arts education workforce. Your passion fuels change and inspires possibility.
2024 was a year of celebration, marked by significant achievements.
The growing demand for our programs is reflected in a 50% increase in student participation and a 27% increase in income. 2024 saw The Song Room deliver a positive financial result for the sixth consecutive year, despite rising costs and a challenging funding environment.
Having reflected on The Song Room’s achievements over a quarter of a century, we step into another year of impact with renewed purpose and optimism.
The power of high-quality arts learning is transforming lives and we are privileged to play our part.
