The Song Room provides free access to a range of professional performances for children involved in its workshop programs.
The performances inspire and motivate the students and their teachers to want to do more music and performing arts programs and activities for themselves. They also boost the children’s confidence to believe in their own abilities.
“Students’ confidence improved each week. Students who normally wouldn’t do things in front of others gained the confidence not only during The Song Room but even for classroom projects”
Amanda Barker, Berserker State School, QLD
Whenever possible, the workshop program concludes with a performance produced by the students for their school community and their parents. Our evidence suggests that the productions encourage the students to participate even more during the in-school program and create connections between the school, students, their parents and wider communities.
