Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry report
Several months ago, The Song Room, along with a number of schools, researchers and sector leaders, was invited to present to the Victorian Parliamentary Inquiry into the extent, benefits and potential of music education in Victorian schools. Last week the committee tabled its report, finding that there is a ‘compelling case’ for all students across Victoria to have access to high quality, meaningful music programs.
Findings from this report were also the subject of a feature article in The Age, which quotes The Song Room’s research findings, particularly the vast improvements to children’s numeracy and literacy and positive effects to other learning areas.
The Age feature can be found here and the report can be downloaded from the Victorian Parliamentary website here.
