The Prime Minister acknowledges The Song Room
The Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd, gave a landmark speech recently to an exclusive Centre for Independent Studies think tank in Coolum, Queensland.
In the context of the Australian Government’s focus on building a framework for social inclusion for all Australians, he confirmed the importance of The Song Room’s partnership model with the philanthropic, corporate and government sectors:
“..recent years have seen some valuable individual initiatives. Macquarie and other corporates are financing The Song Room project, to bring music and the arts to children in disadvantaged communities. These are outstanding examples of where the business community is improving opportunities for people in Indigenous communities”, the Prime Minister said.
