Shalvey children perform at GrainCorp Conference
The Song Room’s partnership with GrainCorp has grown significantly over the last year, with their support of our In-School Workshop and Creative Community programs working to directly benefit several thousand children and their families across Western New South Wales. This alliance broke new ground last month when GrainCorp asked The Song Room to participate at their Senior Management Conference in Wollongong as an example of a supported community program with direct, tangible positive outcomes for communities.
Shalvey Public School in Western Sydney has benefited from a highly successful Song Room workshop program, and these students enjoyed a trip to the seaside and the wonderful opportunity of performing before a hundred senior management conference delegates from around the world. Students performed ‘Imagine’ by John Lennon and ‘Livin’ on a Prayer‘ by Bon Jovi. The performance concluded with a hip hop drum circle, accompanied by Human Rhythms African drummers and conference delegates.
Students were presented with a Djembe for their school as a token of Graincorp’s appreciation, alongside overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants.
