New Funding Secured for The Song Room!
Despite the enduring variables as a result of COVID-19, The Song Room is very pleased to be kicking off the new year with some fantastic new funding for The Song Room.
Our long time collaborators Lotterywest will support two new Song Room projects that will enable us to produce additional Deadly Arts resources for ARTS:LIVE and deliver after-school programs in six schools over the next two years. The after-school programs will address the negative well-being impacts of COVID-19 and help build strong school communities in West Australia.
Lotterywest has been a valued supporter of our community based Deadly Arts programs since 2018, helping to introduce the richness of First Nation cultures to primary school students. At the end of last year we held a concert in Perth that brought eight schools together to celebrate culture and community. Student pride abounds in this video showcasing their learning from their Deadly Arts programs. Grade Five students from Warriapendi Primary School wrote and performed the acknowledgement used as the sound track.
In Victoria, the Anthony Costa Foundation will fund a three-year Song Room program at Geelong East Primary School. This grant allows us to bring sustainable approaches to Arts Learning at a third school in eastern Geelong to enable greater connection to learning, improved well-being and community engagement for students, teachers, parents and the wider school community. We are thrilled to be working with The Anthony Costa Foundation for the first time.
Thank you to all of our partners, old and new. We cannot do the work that we do without your support and enthusiasm.
It is refreshing to start the new year on such a positive note!
