In 2013 the Federal Minister for Education launched ARTS:LIVE, our award-winning, online teaching and learning platform for engaging school students through the arts. ARTS:LIVE is now used in close to 5,000 Australian Schools and we are proud to present ARTS:LIVE University to help pre-service teachers as they enter the school classroom for the first time. In 2014 we welcomed The University of Melbourne, Monash University and Deakin University libraries as our first subscribers to ARTS:LIVE University.
University subscriptions are helping The Song Room to drive social change through arts education internationally. Already used by 10,000 teachers across Australia, now over 6,000 emerging teachers from these leading universities can also access the ARTS:LIVE platform and supporting professional development initiatives as part of their education degrees.
ARTS:LIVE University gives emerging teachers:
- The confidence to ‘hit the ground running’ as they enter the school classroom for the first time; and
- The skills to use the arts as a powerful way to engage students in learning across the entire curriculum.

The Song Room delivers ARTS:LIVE as a high-quality and growing suite of close to 1,000 online resources that are available free to registered primary and secondary teachers in Australia. ARTS:LIVE means that all young Australians can benefit from the positive social and wellbeing outcomes that are proven to result from participation in quality arts programs. We continue to partner with a wide range of practicing artists and arts organisations to co-create resources which bring specialist arts education into Australian schools. Our partners include the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Ausdance, and the National Gallery of Victoria.
