On Friday 14th June, The Song Room officially launched ARTS:LIVE, a unique, interactive online learning platform that is now available free to every school in the Australia and goes a long way to realising our vision that no child misses out on quality arts education.
Using innovative technology, the ARTS:LIVE platform promotes active collaboration between teachers and students and supports non-specialist teachers in delivering arts education across the art forms of Music, Dance, Drama, Media and Visual Arts.
Unveiled at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, and attended by leaders from Australian arts, education, corporate and community sectors, ARTS:LIVE was officially launched by The Hon Peter Garrett AM, MP, who noted that: “ARTS:LIVE is the only project of its kind delivering curriculum resources across all art forms and is set to change the face of arts education in Australia”.
Presently, fewer than 25% per cent of Australian school children currently enjoy the benefits of specialised music teachers. This equates to nearly 1.4 million children missing out on reaching their full learning and developmental potential.
ARTS:LIVE aims to bridge that equity gap by offering unprecedented access to in-depth, Australian Arts curriculum aligned, classroom-ready interactive learning from anywhere in Australia, regardless of their existing skills and knowledge.
The Song Room partnered with a number of Australia’s leading arts organisations such as Ausdance, Chunky Move, Heide Museum of Modern Art and ATOM to create over 400 teaching resources, across all 5 art forms and all year levels that currently make up ARTS:LIVE, with more partnership announcements and further resource content to follow.
This initiative would not have been possible without the generous support of the Macquarie Group Foundation, Education Services Australia and DEEWR, and The Song Room development partners X:Machine Productions and Smartface.
ARTS:LIVE is available free to all schools now at www.artslive.com.au, so spread the word!
