ARIA Award winner Kavisha Mazzella joins St Andrew’s Catholic Primary School to build a Creative Community
ARIA award winner Kavisha Mazzella’s list of accomplishments across her 30+ year career is staggering, having won numerous awards for her music, including an ARIA and a Multicultural Commission Excellence Award.
This year The Song Room, in partnership with The Kimberley Foundation, brings Kavisha Mazzella into Werribee’s St Andrew’s Catholic Primary School’s community to guide the children through writing their very own school song as part of our Creative Communities program.
During Term 2, Kavisha ran a song writing workshops with students, teachers and parents to craft a song tailored to the school and greater St Andrew’s community. This term Kavisha is working with the students’ to debut their community song at a performance later in the year.
Kavisha met the whole school community for the first time in May when she wowed them with her performance at the St Andrew’s Mother’s Day Breakfast.
Kavisha introduced the community to the project and encouraged everyone to start thinking about ideas for the song. The school’s motto was the starting point; ‘Live, Love, Learn’. The first draft of this song has now been completed and sent to the school and the response so far being very positive, with the Principal saying that she had ‘tears in her eyes as she listened’.
