Federation Square Christmas Performance
In collaboration with Federation Square, The Song Room’s Program Coordinators and Teaching Artists associated with the relevant schools in Victoria, The Song Room coordinated a wonderful Christmas performance on the Main Stage in Federation Square.
Spanning over a period of four days, the event showcased performances by 14 separate schools, each given 10minutes to perform on the outdoor, ‘Main Stage’ all filmed and beamed live onto the giant screen.
Federation Square named the event – “Carols at Fed Square” and The Song Room provided the opportunity as an ‘End of Year Celebration’ to the participating schools. This allowed for a diverse number of schools to be involved, as well as the presentation of performances ranging from Christmas Carols, Dance and Movement, Rock Bands and Percussion pieces.
The schools involved included past Program schools, Membership schools, and current Program schools from a range of streams including ESL, Special Schools and Socially and Economically Disadvantaged schools who traveled via tram, train and bus from as far as Geelong to be part of the event.
The diverse approach, and the enormous support from staff and parents in making the event memorable was celebrated by Federation Square, who were extremely pleased with the creativity, colour and attendance of the performances. The partnership between Federation Square and The Song Room will continue in 2010 and beyond.
