200kms South Project - Indigenous Program StreamThe 200kms South Project is a partnership involving
The Song Room and The Northern Territory Music School in Darwin and is
generously supported by Foster’s Group Community Grants Program. A 30
week program running from February to August 2009, it involves the
Teaching Artist travelling to the remote schools south of Darwin to
mentor teachers in preparation for the Adelaide River Choral Festival.
The Teaching Artist will also incorporate professional development for
teachers using DRUMBEAT, an early intervention program for ‘at-risk’
youth that uses drumming to teach a range of social skills and lift
self-esteem.
