Richard Price
Chairman

An Executive Director of Macquarie Capital Advisors, Richard is responsible for Macquarie's Corporate Finance business in the Resources / Mining Sector. Over his 20 years with Macquarie Richard has been involved in a number of major corporate finance assignments, covering a diverse range of industries including resources, manufacturing, agriculture, retail, building sector and cooperatives.

Such assignments have included mergers, acquisitions and divestment advice, takeover advice and general financial advice to many major companies within Australian and internationally.

In addition, Richard involves himself in numerous philanthropic activities such as being an Ambassador of the Melbourne Museum.


Neil Barker
Board Member

Neil is a former primary school principal with over 25 years experience in the education industry. He has taught from Kindergarten to University level in a variety of regular and specialist schools. He has worked as an education officer for the Australian Government agency, Emergency Management Australia and for the Zoological Board of Victoria.

Neil works as a Senior Policy Officer (Equity Programs for disadvantaged schools) for the Victorian Department of Education.

Andrew Baxter
Board Member

Andrew Baxter was made CEO of the BADJAR Ogilvy Group in Melbourne in November 2009. This followed two and a half years as Managing Director, where he oversaw the highly successful merger between BADJAR and Ogilvy, major account wins such as Officeworks and MYER, and the opening of a number of companies within the Melbourne office including One20, Neo@Ogilvy and Ogilvy Action. Prior to that Andrew had been the Executive Director of Singleton Ogilvy & Mather Sydney, where he retained client responsibility for the KFC, Kimberly Clark, NSW Government and News Ltd accounts.

He joined Singleton Ogilvy & Mather in 2004 as the Brand Development Director on Unilever and Kimberly Clark, across Australia and New Zealand. He had spent the previous two years at Advertising Associates as their Managing Director, where he utilised his strategic communication and brand knowledge to the advantage of their clients, which included Shell, Honda, the Victoria Racing Club and Toll Ipec. Before that, Andrew spent nine and a half years with one of Australia’s largest agencies, Young & Rubicam, rising to Head of Account Management in Sydney. Across both their Melbourne and Sydney offices, Andrew managed and strategically directed award winning and successful campaigns for clients such as Nintendo, Chupa Chups, Converse, Mortgage Choice, Colgate-Palmolive, Jim Beam, H&R Block, Taubmans, Accenture and RSPCA.



Nicholas Brand
Secretary

A founding Director of Bazzani Scully Brand, Nicholas is a commercial litigation and dispute resolution practitioner with extensive experience in all jurisdictions dealing with contractual, intellectual property, trade practice, corporations, property and employment disputes.

Nicholas is also an advisor to commercial and corporate clients on matters involving general business and corporate affairs, trusts and succession planning.

Ros Casey
Board Member

  

Ros has worked in both the private sector and with government in a range of seemingly diverse positions. However, her work has always involved stakeholder management, project management, community relations and culture change. Ros worked at the Australian War Memorial for many years where she oversaw a wide ranging publications program, managed major national ceremonies and events and developed the Memorial’s first major fundraising program. She has held senior positions at the Institution of Engineers, the Secretariat to the National Council for the Centenary of Federation and was a consultant to the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership. In 2007 she was appointed as Director of Development, Victoria University (VU) where she is assisting VU to develop its own strategic approach to fundraising, cross-sector collaboration and business - community engagement.


Duncan McGregor
Treasurer

Duncan is a director of the Melbourne firm of Chartered Accountants, McGregor West Wong Pty Ltd. He has been in public practice for over 35 years specialising in advising small business in growth strategies, organisation structuring, systems taxation and all areas of administration and compliance.

He is currently Treasurer for The Song Room and a member of the Governance and Business Practice sub-committee.

Annette Rome
Board Member

 

In January 2008 Annette was appointed as the first full-time Director of the Wesley College Institute. She has held a range of leadership positions at schools in Melbourne and has had teaching experience in a number of schools in the UK and in systems including the VCE, International Baccalaureate Diploma and A-Level. Annette has written a number of science and education papers and has spoken often about education on invitational panels and at events. In 2010 she was awarded a Jeff Thompson Research Award from the International Baccalaureate.

She brings with her the learning gained from being brought up in Brunei, Malaysia, the UK and Australia as well as wide-ranging experience outside schools. Her extensive involvement in bodies such as the Australian College of Educators, Science Teachers Association of Victoria Council, business corporate affairs divisions (including Orica) and the James Macready-Bryan Foundation ensure that she brings a range of perspectives and skills. She is delighted to be involved in an organization such as The Song Room, which encompasses her great love of music, education and contributing to society.


Caroline Aebersold
Chief Executive Officer

 

Caroline is a well respected leader in the not-for-profit sector having worked in senior roles for over a decade. She has particular expertise in governance and organisational development, working with vulnerable and marginalised communities and suicide prevention. Having studied sociology and psychology, then qualifying as a Psychologist, Caroline worked in a range of areas including direct counselling work, teaching counselling skills and specialist skills to mental health professionals, managing community health services, and working as a management consultant to corporate and government clients on a number of large projects. She has also served on a number of not-for-profit boards.

Caroline has been the CEO of The Song Room since 2005 where under her leadership the organisation has had ten fold growth and is now delivering programs nationally, having developed their strategic plan and a diverse funding base as well as specialised programs, an excellent staff team and organisational structure. Caroline is recognised for her expertise in strategic policy and program development and in working collaboratively towards community outcomes with various Government Departments and Community Organisations. Caroline has an active interest in Psychology and Law. She is currently completing a Master of Laws (Human Rights) at Monash University and has worked on a range of projects in this field through her career, such as work nationally with the Family Court of Australia and the Coroners Courts.
