Andrew Baxter Chairperson

Andrew Baxter is currently the CEO of the Ogilvy Australia, a position he has held since November 2009. This followed two and a half years as Managing Director, where he oversaw the highly successful merger between BADJAR and Ogilvy, major account wins such as Officeworks and MYER, and the opening of a number of companies within the Melbourne office including One20, Neo@Ogilvy and Ogilvy Action. Prior to that Andrew had been the Executive Director of Singleton Ogilvy & Mather Sydney. Andrew started his advertising career at Young & Rubicam Melbourne in 1993, rose to Head of Account Management at Young & Rubicam Sydney in 1998, became Advertising Associates’ Managing Director in 2002, before joining Singleton Ogilvy & Mather in 2004.
In his career, Andrew has worked with many of Australia’s largest companies and brands, including BMW, Australia Post, AAMI, KFC, Kimberly Clark, Puma, Colgate-Palmolive, News Limited, BP, Nintendo, Cadbury, Kraft, Fosters, Shell, Toll Ipec, H&R Block, Jim Beam, Converse & Westpac, as well as the NSW, Victorian and Federal Governments.
Andrew’s passion for music and the arts was founded at Haileybury College & Monash University, continued through into his advertising career, and also led to him both hosting and commentating on the Fox Footy Channel in the early to mid 2000’s.
Andrew is a Director of a number of companies within the publicly listed STW Group, and sits on Advisory Boards at St Kilda FC and the Melbourne Aces.

Richard Price Deputy Chairperson

An Executive Director of Macquarie Capital Advisors, Richard is responsible for Macquarie's Corporate Finance business in the Resources / Mining Sector. Over his 20 years with Macquarie Richard has been involved in a number of major corporate finance assignments, covering a diverse range of industries including resources, manufacturing, agriculture, retail, building sector and cooperatives.
Such assignments have included mergers, acquisitions and divestment advice, takeover advice and general financial advice to many major companies within Australian and internationally.
In addition, Richard involves himself in numerous philanthropic activities such as being an Ambassador of the Melbourne Museum.

Rob McGauran Secretary

Robert McGauran has been a director of the award winning design practice McGauran Giannini Soon Pty Ltd Architects, Urban Planners and Interior Designers since 1985. Rob’s key areas of interest are in making our cities, institutions and places more inclusive, prosperous, dynamic and sustainable through good design and design and policy advocacy. In recent years he has been a leading advocate for affordable housing and investment in public transport and education and sat on the board of Housing Choices Australia and its former organisation MAH, seeing it grow 10 fold during his term, to an organisation with net assets in excess of $500m. He is the University Architect for Monash University and chair of the Sullivan’s Cove (Hobart) Design Advisory Panel. He has sat on a range of expert panels for Government and the profession and was awarded a Life Fellowship by the Australian Institute of Architects in 1999 for contributions to the profession. In 2010 he was made a fellow of Victorian Planning and Environmental Law Association for his advocacy and leadership in promoting Design within the Planning and Policy areas of the development industry.

Nicholas Brand Board Member

A founding Director of Bazzani Scully Brand, Nicholas is a commercial litigation and dispute resolution practitioner with extensive experience in all jurisdictions dealing with contractual, intellectual property, trade practice, corporations, property and employment disputes.
Nicholas is also an advisor to commercial and corporate clients on matters involving general business and corporate affairs, trusts and succession planning. |

Ros Casey Board Member

Ros has worked in both the private sector and with government in a range of seemingly diverse positions. However, her work has always involved stakeholder management, project management, community relations and culture change. Ros worked at the Australian War Memorial for many years where she oversaw a wide ranging publications program, managed major national ceremonies and events and developed the Memorial’s first major fundraising program. She has held senior positions at the Institution of Engineers, the Secretariat to the National Council for the Centenary of Federation and was a consultant to the Prime Minister’s Community Business Partnership. In 2007 she was appointed as Director of Development, Victoria University (VU) where she is assisting VU to develop its own strategic approach to fundraising, cross-sector collaboration and business - community engagement.

Duncan McGregor Treasurer

Duncan is a director of the Melbourne firm of Chartered Accountants, McGregor West Wong Pty Ltd. He has been in public practice for over 35 years specialising in advising small business in growth strategies, organisation structuring, systems taxation and all areas of administration and compliance.
He is currently Treasurer for The Song Room and a member of the Governance and Business Practice sub-committee.

Annette Rome Board Member
|
|
Annette Rome is currently Director of Staff Learning at Methodist Ladies' College, Melbourne and President of the Australian College of Educators (Vic).
Prior roles include Director of the Wesley College Institute for Innovation in Education and a range of leadership positions in schools across Melbourne. She has written a number of science and education resources and presents frequently at conferences nationally and internationally.
Previously she sat on the Science Teachers Association of Victoria Council and worked with the Orica Corporate Affairs Division for a number of years. She is the 2010 - 2011 holder of an International Baccalaureate (IB) Jeff Thompson Research Award and in 2011 was admitted as a Fellow to the Australian College of Educators. She has organised a large number of educational events including colloquia, educational forums and international conferences and workshops, including the 2010 Global Language Convention.
She is currently an active member of the James Macready-Bryan Foundation as well as other not-for profit endeavours. Her passion in education is for the development of young people so that they may become the best they can be - true citizens of the world. She is delighted to be involved in an organization such as The Song Room, which encompasses her great love of music, education and contribution to society.

Caroline Aebersold Chief Executive Officer

Caroline is a well respected leader in the not-for-profit sector having worked in senior roles for over a decade. She has particular expertise in governance and organisational development, working with vulnerable and marginalised communities and suicide prevention. Having studied sociology and psychology, then qualifying as a Psychologist, Caroline worked in a range of areas including direct counselling work, teaching counselling skills and specialist skills to mental health professionals, managing community health services, and working as a management consultant to corporate and government clients on a number of large projects. She has also served on a number of not-for-profit boards. Caroline has been the CEO of The Song Room since 2005 where under her leadership the organisation has had ten fold growth and is now delivering programs nationally, having developed their strategic plan and a diverse funding base as well as specialised programs, an excellent staff team and organisational structure. Caroline is recognised for her expertise in strategic policy and program development and in working collaboratively towards community outcomes with various Government Departments and Community Organisations. Caroline has an active interest in Psychology and Law. She is currently completing a PhD (Human Rights Law) at Monash University and has worked on a range of projects in this field through her career, such as work nationally with the Family Court of Australia and the Coroners Courts. |
