It’s Showtime – The 7th Annual Song Room Soirée

Melbourne charity’s night of nights, the 7th Annual Song Room Soirée was held on 23rd of August at the Sofitel’s magnificent Grand Ballroom, to raise funds for arts intervention programs as a means of re-engaging disadvantaged children in learning and their school community.

In a night of glamour, glitz and celebrities, many of Melbourne’s leading corporate and philanthropic figures walked down the red carpet to enjoy a performance by some of Australia's best known contemporary musicians, including the fabulous Katie Noonan.

A highlight of the evening was wonderful performance by children from St Joseph’s Primary School in Collingwood with their rendition of Ease On Down The Road from the musical The Wiz. The children were ably coached and conducted by Song Room Teaching Artist Virginia Bott.

The generosity of the guests was outstanding and the fundraising event raised over $400,000 to help The Song Room reached its goal of providing music and arts programs to 150,000 children by 2008. The Song Room thanks all of the guests who attended the 7th Annual Soiree and particularly all the supporters who gave so generously.
